Budapest 5, Railjet to Vienna

I took the 3 PM train back to Vienna and stayed overnight at a hotel just across the driveway from the Vienna airport. I left early the next morning (0600) to fly from Vienna to Amsterdam to Washington, DC, to San Francisco—24 hours from the hotel doorway to my front door in Palo Alto. The Railjet is sleek and comfortable, but not especially speedy. Glancing occasionally at the TV monitors, the maximum speed I saw wasn't all that fast: 145 kph.
