Lever House, Park Ave. at 54th (1952)

Designed primarily by Gordon Bunshaft of Skidmore, Owings and Merrill, this building had an outsize effect on those of us studying toward our architecture degrees. It was a "seminal glass-box skyscraper built in the International Style according to the design principles of Ludwig Mies van der Rohe. Completed in 1952, it was the second curtain wall skyscraper in New York City after the United Nations Secretariat Building. The 307-foot-tall (94 m) building features an innovative courtyard and public space." (Wikipedia)

Also known as the New York Times Tower, the 25-story, 363-foot-high (111 m) skyscraper at 42nd Street and Broadway was originally built to serve as The New York Times headquarters, which moved to the tower in 1905. In 1995, Lehman Brothers re-purposed the building for advertising. Most of the building's interior is vacant except for Walgreen's at ground level and Jeff Straus who runs the New Years Eve celebration from his 22nd floor office. http://bit.ly/2rN6Cr4
